During November of 2014 ROSE hosted our Master Trainer Workshop: A Comprehensive Exam Preparation and Breastfeeding Training Course led by Linda J. Smith MPH, FACCE, IBCLC of Bright Future Lactation Resource Centre Ltd. Our participants traveled into Atlanta from Washington, Missouri, New York, Boston, D.C, Delaware, Florida, and of course Georgia. This workshop was designed to equip our Master Trainers with the skills and resources needed to lead their own exam prep courses in their communities for individuals seeking to become IBCLC’s. In order to attend this workshop, our trainers made a few commitments to ROSE with the key promise to lead 2 free lactation management education courses for a minimum of 20 individuals of color over the next 2 years (2015 & 2016).
Attending A 45hr Prep Course
In order to attend a training led by a ROSE Master Trainer, there are a few items to consider:
- Are you familiar with the requirements for IBCLE certification and exam?
- Are you currently on a pathway to meeting IBCLE requirements?
- Are you preparing to take the exam in 2015 or 2016?
- Do you self-identify as a person of color?
If you answered yes to all of they above, you can use the resources below to apply for a prep course. This page will be updated as trainers provide links for their applications. If becoming an IBCLC is not currently your area of interest, but you want to support breastfeeding families in your community. We encourage you to consider our ROSE Community Transformer Breastfeeding Peer Counselor Training program.
