In 2012, Reaching Our Sisters Everywhere (ROSE) first breastfeeding summit presented the barriers to breastfeeding within the African American community and the importance of reclaiming the tradition. In 2013, we evolved the conversation to Organizing for Action: An African American Breastfeeding Campaign where we demonstrated the importance of empowering communities. Last year, we encouraged a movement entitled Black Health Matters: A Breastfeeding Movement which addressed the way the work must be done in order stimulate a larger system change. This year we are focusing on Building Bridges Across the Chasm of Breastfeeding Inequities. There is an immense need for unified collaborative work among providers across the spectrum of care for infants, mothers, families, and communities.
We invite you to attend our 2015 Breastfeeding Summit, to be a voice in this discussion, and continue to drive the needle forward towards health equity.
